About the event

Guest Speaker: Mareen Myrie

Ms. Maureen Myrie, PMP is the Founder/President/CEO of The STEAM Generation, a community-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing STEAM enrichment education to children 4-14. Born to Jamaican immigrants, Maureen was raised in NY and brought up in a household where education, specifically technology and engineering, was exposed to her in a fun way. Maureen obtained her B.S. degree from the University of Alabama Huntsville in Business Administration with a Management Information Systems concentration. Maureen spent her career as an IT professional with over a decade of experience as a Consultant and Program Manager at some of the top corporations in the region, including Accenture, CoxCommunications, and First Data. After years of working in corporate America, Maureen identified a lack of equitable resources for children in the local community. It was at this point in 2013, The STEAM Generation nonprofit was founded. Based on her early years, she realized how important it is to expose children to STEAM at a young age. Maureen is now focused on building for the future by providing better STEAM educational opportunities for all children in our community.
